Ready to take your smartphone videos to the next level? Here’s how….
Its so important to be producing content on a regular basis. As you know, video content has the highest form of engagement on social media. If you want to connect with your consumers on a continual basis, DIY video is the way to go. Facebook video and Instagram stories are perfect for the Video DIY-ers. These types of videos are a fun way to keep your fans continually engaged and involved in your personal brand journey.
I’m often asked for my suggestions on how to make smartphone videos look more professional. One of the best ways to do this is to invest in some video equipment and accessories so that you’re content looks more polished.
Here are my tips and product recommendations:
- Lighting – Great lighting is one of the most important factors in producing great video. Natural light is the best way to go. So if you can, position yourself beside a window (not in front of one). But, when you can’t rely on natural light, you will need to use another lighting source.
This ring light is a great one!
2. Steady Video – we all have shaking hands and holding your smartphone straight and steady for 30 seconds may be a difficult task so, I highly recommend purchasing a stabilizer.
A stabilizer will keep your cell phone steady. You can purchase really great ones for around $150 or you can start with this simple one that also works as a tripod and selfie stick.
I also think this is a great tripod and worth adding to your home video studio. What’s great about it is that it is very flexible and you can manoeuvre it’s position. It also comes with a remote control so you can set your shot up and then hit record with the remote. I have this one in my personal collection and it’s great. You can also use it as a selfie stick.
3. Sound is just as important as lighting and steadiness. You want to add a microphone to eliminate any background noise or wind if you are shooting outdoors. The Rode microphone is a great option to capture good sound.
I can’t wait to see how these accessories have helped you take your videos to the next level! If you have any video equipment accessories that you love, please share!
